(online) card game
For TROPEZ, artist Stacie Ant has designed the (online) card game Tropez Tarot. The deck shows childlike figures in a colourful pool-parallel world. They represent the 22 trump cards, the so-called Major Arcana, which are the basis of the interpretations in the Tarot. Stacie Ants cards are based on the well-known and often quoted Waite Smith Tarot deck. The history of the Tarot cards can be traced back to the 14th century. It is assumed that they were invented in Italy and initially used as playing cards. Only from the 18th century onwards were they used for fortune telling. Today, card reading is a popular method to search for answers to both small and large questions in life. With Tropez Tarot, Ant breaks with the typical art nouveau aesthetic of the tarot and creates an optimistic and poppy version with elements of the Sommerbad Humboldthain.
The online version of the game at tropeztropez.de/tarot extends the artwork into the digital cosmos: here, an algorithm lays the cards. The Tropez Tarot card set is available at the kiosk of the outdoor pool.
