Sofia Duchovny
Schröderstraße, 2017
Tropez, 2017
watercolour, 24 x 32 cm
The delicate watercolours by Sofia Duchovny in the café can be seen in striking opposition to the sculptures she is known for that expand into the entire space around them, like her tents. The drawings show to empty night camps with blankets being folded back, a panty lying on the floor. A nightmare might have roused the sleepers, the legs and wings of a giant mosquito can be seen in the corner of the picture ... The left behind beds or mattresses (in this case an airbed) allude to the precarious working conditions of young artists who have to limit their needs to the necessary, always flexible and able to move away at any moment.
