5 Polyester flags, 150 × 90 cm, edition 1 of 10
The five colorful flags designed by the painter Hayal Pozanti for AMOUR are visible from far and wide, lining the terrace of TROPEZ. Their abstract forms are based on a code Pozanti developed using 31 shapes which cor- respond to numbers and letters in the English alphabet. Using this coded language, the artist translates re- searched statistics or events into large-format sculptural paintings. The title of each piece functions to decode the presented information. The pink flag is titled 10 (Number of languages spoken in Wedding), the turquoise flag 3,500 (Number of visitors visiting Sommerbad Humboldthain), the yellow flag 1861 (The year that Wedding was designated a neighborhood), the blue flag 85,527 (Number of people living in Wedding), and the orange flag 29,003 (Number of immigrants living in Wedding).
