A divine babble of voices leads Jeanne Dark to a place where she is made visible for all to see. Why doesn't she disappear from our world to create a better one somewhere else? Disappearing is a skill. "Adieu! Adieu!" Jeanne Dark says and then goes diving. In DIVE DARK, the music and theatre collective Hauen und Stechen uses Jeanne’s visibility to sink dramatically. With a cast of illustrious angels and knights, set to Tchaikovsky’s opera The Maid of Orleans, the collective creates a musical training camp for heroines and heroes.
The music and theatre collective HAUEN UND STECHEN creates many-voiced and accessible opera-performances. In the process, classical repertoire material is appropriated, their unhappy female characters are freed and placed in a personal and political context. The collective was founded by Franziska Kronfoth and Julia Lwowski in 2012. Since then, they’ve worked closely with the Berlin performing arts theatre Sophiensaele. Further venues include Staatsoper Hamburg, Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, Rote Fabrik in Zürich, Theater Regensburg, and Oper Halle.
