An inflatable pool placed in a public pool, a utopia in the reality of the Sommerbad Humboldthain in Berlin Wedding. Four bathers meet the glances of passers-by while they document everything that happens in their surroundings. POOL is a performative installation by the collective Henrike Iglesias in collaboration with Noah Rieser. It combines personal stories that deal with experiences in public pools, puts them into context and asks: how accessible, how safe, how pleasant is the public space of a public swimming pool actually for different people?
Henrike Iglesias understand pop-cultural and mass media phenomena as a mirror of social conditions and grievances and have made it their task to illuminate these from explicitly feminist perspectives. They are a theatre collective based in Berlin and Basel. Their permanent crew members are Anna Fries, Laura Naumann, Marielle Schavan, Sophia Schroth, Eva G. Alonso and Malu Peeters.
Noah Rieser is an inter* activist and artist living and working in Berlin and Vienna.
