BLÜHENDE LANDSCHAFTEN - THE CORONA EDITION
BLÜHENDE LANDSCHAFTEN - THE CORONA EDITION is the version of the dance performance Blühende Landschaften reworked for public space. Originally conceived for closed stage space, Blühende Landschaften was performed in Studio 14 of the Uferstudios in Berlin-Wedding shortly before the closure of all theatres and venues due to Corona in October 2020.
BLÜHENDE LANDSCHAFTEN - THE CORONA EDITION takes up the motifs of the original stage version and sets them against a new background, also influenced by the multiple upheavals in the wake of the Corona pandemic. Which has made us realise that life could be over again tomorrow. So is it time for a memento mori? Perhaps everything would have turned out quite differently if we had only known, believed and wanted more. BLÜHENDE LANDSCHAFTEN - THE CORONA EDITION is a breathless parcours across verdant fields of rubble, danced by seven performers. A plaintive, aggressive chorus of human and non-human voices sings of disappointment at all the unkept promises of the Western Civilization, and is echoed by its own failures. The end is a tearful ceremony. But are all the tears real or are they mere hypocrisy? BLÜHENDE LANDSCHAFTEN - THE CORONA EDITION sets out in search of appropriate grief and the art and grace of mourning.
BLÜHENDE LANDSCHAFTEN - THE CORONA EDITION was produced by the LUNA PARK initiative founded in 2003. The initiative is led by the Berlin choreographer Kosmas Kosmopoulos and, in addition to contemporary dance productions with performances in Germany and abroad, also realises diverse projects for extracurricular artistic education of children, youth and young adults and international exchange and encounter programmes for young dance practitioners and dance education professionals. Locally, the initiative is mainly active in Berlin-Wedding. In 2019, the initiative has institutionalised itself as a non-profit association at the Gesundbrunnen primary school there in order to establish the school as an open production space for dance within the framework of an artist in residency.
