Shasti (they/dia) builds their oeuvre from reimagining the supernatural and investigating the politics behind its demonisation. Shasti equips themselves with physical and digital distortions of voice to embody the diabolical, re-narrate obscured histories of rage and revenge, and speculate on ghosts, haunting and curse. Much of these processes materialise in text-based and audiovisual performances that also reflect on diasporic bodies, grounded in the understanding of space, body and spirits in the local mysticism spread all around the now Indonesia, where they were born and grew up. One of their current works, Devil’s Whisper, explores the decolonial, queer-feminist and supernatural vision of tech, and has been performed as part of dgtl fmnsm’s performances Virtual Healing Hub and interFACE - digital pleasure center.

Unguarded, founded in 2020 by Philipp Hülsenbeck, Tim Roth, and later joined by Dounia Biedermann, gathers a collection of genre-defying works by longtime collaborators as well as artists they bonded with in recent years. Their releases constantly escape from definition but through entangling their unique artistic marks, this diversity remains absorbing and compelling throughout their sprawling sonic miasmas. Combining earth-shattering club cuts, equally elegant and bouncy, Unguarded contributes to and connects the experimental music scene in and outside of Berlin.
