At the pool
The Petsitter, 2020
Concrete, equipment, animal feed
300 x 19,5cm
Just in front of TROPEZ, Cecilia Bjartmar Hylta has installed the sculpture The Petsitter (2020). With its slender form and omnipresent red color, the minimalist three meter high concrete column disappears into the outdoor pool environment. Hidden inside is a smart feeding apparatus. Designed for humans, the machine allows digitally initiated feeding in the absence of pet owners. However, Cecilia Bjartmar Hylta's sculpture feeds all animals that approach the column.
Bjartmar Hylta says of her work, I was sitting on the bench for around an hour a fraction of the time of the ten weeks the work was up for. I was not interested in the piece as a trick, a candid camera moment, but rather that what I observed was only a glimpse of a stage created for no audience.
