PARASITE celebrates the nonconforming and reveals how space for innovation and creativity can be found between rules, order, and expectations. Sculptures and installations intervene directly in the daily life of the swimming pool — they disrupt routines, shift perceptions, and open up new experiential spaces. Inspired by Michel Serres’ theory of the parasite, PARASITE explores how productive interference can be worthwhile.
TROPEZ, too, is a kind of parasite: an art space in a public swimming pool in Berlin’s Wedding district. Each year, this non-profit institution invites young international artists, many of whom are exhibiting in Berlin for the first time.
Eight outdoor sculptures and installations by Haseeb Ahmed, Amine Habki, Melike Kara, Tilhenn Klapper, Maya Man, Rosanna Marie Pondorf, SUNDAYS (Dorothee Brübach, Maximilian Flachsenberg, Ramona Kortyka, Anders Prey, and David Wassermann), and T Vinoja add unexpected encounters to the everyday pool experience. All artworks were produced specifically for this unique context.
Please note that admission to the summer pool is possible until 5 PM. Swimming ends at 5:30 PM.
