Miriam Yammad has decided to keep her initial, analogue contribution to REALITY. A video on the website documents the installation Display III (2019) with which the artist decorates the closed exhibition space of TROPEZ. It ties into a series of installations with which Yammad exposes stereotypical Western views as such. She uses objects from the everyday cultures of migrant women – such as jewelry in this case – to bring them into new relationships.
In her videos, photographs, sculptures, and installations, Miriam Yammad (*1979 in Freiburg) explores the roles inscribed in various cultures and their influence on the construction of identity. The artist shows that our social reality is a staging. Above all, by enabling new perspectives on established identities, Yammad creates space for changing cultural perceptions. Last year her work could be seen at Josey’s in Norwich in England.
