Anna M. Szaflarski has developed the interactive work Water is taught by thirst (2021): Her five online tutorials explain swimming movements using abstract shapes and their fluid dynamics. In the short clips, they merge with the artist.

Anna M. Szaflarski (b. 1984, St. Catharines, CA) combines illustration and storytelling in her sculptures, drawings, installations. She combines autobiographical and historical narratives with complex themes such as the feminist politics of physical boundaries and motifs from the natural sciences or comics. Most recently, she exhibited at the Kunstverein Göttingen and the Vernacular Institute in Mexico City. In 2019, she published the book Very Normal People.
