With the summer exhibition PRÉSENT (gift and present), TROPEZ celebrates the here and now. Ten artists of the post-90s generation present new artworks created especially for the outdoor pool and its audience. The sculptures and (video) installations are a tribute to the past nine summers: the artists quote their personal highlights from the history of TROPEZ.

Selin Acarbaş, François Briand, DaddyBears, Ileana Farabani, Anna-Lena Krause, Neda Naujokaitė, Thuy Tien Nguyen, Malin Kuht, Virginie Sistek and Nomin Zezegmaa address structural problems of our time — while at the same time devising creative counterproposals to reality: at the entrance, a kaleidoscope transports the viewer’s gaze into a fantasy cosmos of found objects, while two large fabric wings on the lawn invite visitors to immerse themselves in a magical counterworld. Nearby, a sculpture preserves the traces of a past moment in concrete, thus defying the transience of everyday life. Other works give tangible form to social grievances. The huge painting in the trees addresses the consequences of industrial logistics. An installation at the kiosk makes visible the exploitative labor conditions behind artificial intelligence; the video work next to it shows the exhaustion and anger of women*. A sculpture made of blue scarves and bells draws attention to thoughtless environmental pollution while simultaneously inviting visitors to formulate their own wishes. In this way, the artists also foster community: a chessboard stage on the terrace invites collective activities, towel sculptures on the flagpoles make a statement for diversity — and a metal sculpture of dancing paper-cut silhouettes casually mingles with the bathers.*
